Meet Our Experts
Dr. Birgit Memminger-Rieve
Managing Director & PartnerBirgit studied Environmental Engineering at Stuttgart University, and in 2006 she gained her PhD at the VEGAS research centre. Since 2007, Birgit has dedicated herself to the sustainable management of commercial real estate, and she is recognised throughout Europe as a leading expert in building certification and energy management. Birgit is also an experienced auditor for sustainable building systems such as LEED and BREEAM and sustainable portfolio assessments (GRESB). Birgit is originally from Stuttgart, but she now lives with her family by the beautiful Lake Tegel in Berlin.
Managing Director & PartnerFrank is our co-Founder and Managing Director. He founded the business in 2001 with Birgit. Frank studied geology at the Heidelberg and Kiel Universities. His professional career began at the Salzgitter Elektronik AG in Kiel. In 1990 he changed companies and became project manager at wave GmbH in Stuttgart with focus on contaminated sites investigation and clean-up. Frank has more than 25 years of professional experience. During the last 15 years he has been consulting international clients in the due diligence sector (real estate acquisition and sale). He is married and lives on the northern coast of Germany.
PartnerIngemar is one of our Partners. He joined EnviroSustain in February 2016 and heads up our Frankfurt office. As one of our all-rounders, Ingemar works on a huge variety of projects, including technical due diligence, strategic sustainability consulting, technical real estate consulting, and energy efficiency projects. He works closely with many of our clients, including Hines, Patrizia, and Berlinovo. Before joining EnviroSustain, Ingemar worked for Union Investment for three years as project manager in sustainable real estate.
Partner & Acquisition ManagerOlaf’s relationship with EnviroSustain began back in 2005, when he was the Technical Director at Land America – one of EnviroSustain’s early clients. Olaf has a broad range of experience, and he is a well-rounded professional. His previous roles have included project management, reinsurance, and business development. As EnviroSustain’s Acquisition Manager, Olaf is responsible for introducing us to new prospects. He lives with his family in Munich and also works at Swiss RE’s Munich office.
Project DirectorOliver has been with us since 2010 and he is one of our highly experienced consultants in our Berlin Head Office. Oliver started his journey with us by focusing primarily on technical due diligence projects. He also works on LEED management and technical credits, BREEAM new construction, energy audits and energy management systems, and GRESB support. Oliver lives in the countryside outside Berlin with his wife and three children.
Project DirectorNicole joined EnviroSustain in October 2010. She is one of our Senior Consultants. Nicole is a BREEAM auditor and a LEED® Accredited Professional for existing buildings. When she first joined us, she focused mainly on LEED and BREEAM In-Use projects, but she now also works on LEED for new construction projects. Nicole studied Environmental Engineering at the Stuttgart University. She heads up our Stuttgart office.
Project DirectorClaus joined EnviroSustain in 2005 in our Stuttgart office. He is one of our senior consultants. In 2017 he moved and now is part of our Frankfurt team. Claus delivers a variety of services, including technical and environmental due diligence, and BREEAM certification. He is also our only WELL auditor. Currently, Claus focuses predominantly on technical due diligence projects and project monitoring. Before joining us, Claus had his own business and worked as a geologist involved with building contamination and sub-soil contamination projects.
Project DirectorJan joined us at the end of 2013 as a Senior Consultant and Architect in our Frankfurt office. Jan is an all-rounder, who works on projects including energy consulting, energy audits, EPCs, and sustainability consulting. He is also one of the three members of the EnviroSustain team who can process DGNB certificates. Currently, most of Jan’s time is spent on thermal building simulations for LEED® certifications. Prior to joining EnviroSustain, Jan had his own business working as an energy efficiency consultant.
Dr. Hossein Sagheby
Project DirectorHossein joined us part time in May 2017 and he is one of our Senior Consultants. He also works at the University of Applied Sciences HTW Berlin as Professor for Building Energy and Information Technology. Hossein is an expert in the field of building technologies, and he focuses mainly on delivering energy efficiency projects. However, he is gradually becoming one of our all-rounders, as he also works on simulations, technical due diligence, and some energy audit work. Going forward, Hossein looks forward to working more on calculation and simulation work, and the more scientific projects, which aligns to his educational background.
Senior ConsultantGilbert was one of the first members of the team, having joined us in 2007 in our Frankfurt office. Gilbert is an extremely well-rounded and experienced Senior Consultant, who works on almost everything, with the exception of LEED. Services he delivers include BREEAM, GRESB, EPCs, energy audits, technical due diligence, DGNB auditing, and even drinking water sampling and legionella testing. Gilbert enjoys that there is always a good variety of projects to work on from month-to-month and year-to-year. Gilbert’s background is in civil engineering for the construction sector.
George is a geologist, who is specialised in the environmental field and has gathered experience as a freelance environmental consultant. He joined EnviroSustain in 2008 as the first employee in our Berlin office. He is one of our Senior Consultants. George focuses primarily on our environmental due diligence projects, and also does a lot of work for LEED. Additionally, as a native English speaker, George also provides valuable translation and quality assurance support for all the reports that we create in English for our many UK clients.
Senior ConsultantSimone is an architect, building biologist IBN and LEED consultant. She spent part of her career in Ireland and California working as an architect. Since 2009, she has been working from our Stuttgart office, primarily focusing on our various LEED projects. Prior to joining EnviroSustain, Simone had her own business working as an architect and energy consultant with a focus on sustainable, healthy and ecological buildings. She lives in the countryside outside Stuttgart with her husband and two children.
Kay Christine Rix
Senior ConsultantKay has been with us since 2011 and is one of our Senior Consultants in the Berlin office. Kay focusses predominantly on conducting BREEAM In-Use projects and providing LEED support, especially in the field of sustainable materials. She is taking her Green Associate exam soon. After gaining her qualification as a draftswoman, Kay studied Chemical Engineering at the University of Applied Sciences in Münster with a focus on biotechnology.
Aurélie joined us in April 2019 as a Senior Consultant in the Berlin office. She delivers a variety of services including technical due diligence, LEED consulting, DGNB consulting, energy consulting and energy audits. Currently, Aurélie focuses predominantly on technical due diligence projects and project monitoring. As a native French speaker, Aurélie also provides valuable support to the projects based in French-speaking countries. She spent part of her career in France and China as an energy efficiency consultant. Since 2013, she has been living and working Germany. Aurélie’s background is building services and energy engineering.
ContractorAnnette joined EnviroSustain in 2015 as a contractor. Annette primarily focuses on LEED, carrying out technical credits work and helping with architectural plans and thermal building simulations. Like Nicole and Simone she works from our Stuttgart office. Annette is also a qualified draftswoman and architectural technician. She has her own company, for which she works as a project manager on building and renovation projects, and also as a property manager.
Junior ConsultantEwa is one of our Junior Consultants. She joined the team in 2015 as an intern while studying Building Energy and Information Technology at the University of Applied Sciences HTW Berlin. She became a full-time employee in 2017 upon completion of her degree. Ewa is involved in BREEAM projects and she is an auditor for BREEAM In-Use International and BREEAM In-Use Germany. She also helps with data collection for GRESB. In addition to her project delivery support, Ewa also helps with administrative tasks around our Berlin office. EnviroSustain is Ewa’s first full-time role since graduating from university.
Junior ConsultantMarc joined us in May 2017 as an intern while doing his Energy Engineering degree. He became a full-time Junior Consultant in our Berlin office in November 2017. Marc provides a lot of GRESB support, and works a lot on our Schroders account. He also supports Gilbert with energy audit work, which he particularly enjoys. He also provided some BREEAM project assistance when he first started. Marc also has a degree in sociology.
Junior ConsultantSebastian joined us in December 2017 as a Junior Consultant in our Berlin office. Sebastian works on many BREEAM projects, and although he is not yet an auditor, he works on the projects under the supervision of some of our Senior Consultants. Sebastian also works closely with Ingemar on some USGBC projects, helping out with predominantly data management. Sebastian’s background is in environmental engineering, and during his studies he focused mainly on lifecycle assessments.
Junior ConsultantBenjamin joined us in January 2018 as a Junior Consultant in our Berlin office. Currently, most of Benjamin’s time is spent on LEED certification projects. However, he also provides project support on EPCs and helps out with some site visits to provide advice on existing equipment and make recommendations for changes. At university, Benjamin studied Environmental Science with an emphasis on sustainable energy systems. He looks forward to working on more certification projects, such as BREEAM and DGNB.
Alexandra joined us in February 2019 as a Junior Consultant in our Berlin office. She mostly supports EnviroSustain’s corporate communications and also provides project assistance to GRESB and BREEAM projects under the supervision of some of our Senior Consultants. She has obtained a Master’s degree in Environmental Studies and Sustainability Science at Lund University as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Sinology from Leipzig University and is currently completing a diploma in Public Relations & Journalism at the Free Journalism School in Berlin.
