A year of growth and positive impact
ES ESG Report 2024

Rewidling Europe: Oder Delta visit

In July 2024, the ES team paused business activities for their annual Sommerfest, immersing themselves in nature at Haffhus resort by the Stettin Lagoon.

Travelling by train to Ueckermünde, the team enjoyed bonding activities such as a bike tour, a floating learning centre raft tour on the Uecker river, and a hike through the 2,000-hectare Anklamer Stadtbruch wilderness, home to rare species like white-tailed eagles and otters.

As part of their continued partnership with Rewilding Europe, the team visited the Oder Delta landscape, which spans 70,000 hectares around the Stettin Lagoon. They also explored 380,000 hectares of forest and open landscape. Since June 2023, ES has collaborated with the Oder Delta team and the Natural Building Lab at TU Berlin to reimagine the Oder Delta team’s property as a local rewilding hub. TU Berlin students showcased inspiring case studies for redeveloping an old villa, empty barn, and large outdoor area into a rewilding centre.

The trip provided a chance to relax, explore nature, and deepen our commitment to environmental stewardship.

Our Achievements

Staff Survey

One of our goals was to develop further the employee survey to help us remain a happy and productive workplace. The results have enabled us to form an action plan for the coming year including supplying height adjustable standing desks, installing a meeting pod in the Berlin office, setting up a feedback tool with the Leapsome platform and mental health training for key staff members.

GBCI Europe Circle: Our journey to Athens

EnviroSustain has been one of the sponsors of GBCI Europe Circle for the past three years and in 2024, we joined the event in Athens for workshops, exciting talks and interesting building tours.

As it is our ESG policy not to fly within Europe, the ES participants travelled from Germany to Athens by land and sea – a nice way of ‘travelling slowly’, where we were able to stop in various cities along the way, such as Bolzano, Bologna and Rome.
We calculated around a 48% reduction in emissions per person for the 2,500 km journey from Berlin to Athens via Bologna or Rome, Bari and Patras! The event is a great chance for the LEED industry to unite, including property owners, investors, architects, entrepreneurs, engineers, consultants and more. We look forward to our slow-travel journey to Prague for 2025.

2025 Goals

We will place a greater focus on materials and the circular economy, biodiversity, energy efficiency and renewable energies with our customers and in our projects.

We will continue our work with the Rewilding Oder Delta team and the Natural Building Lab at the TU Berlin.
We will share positive messages about the climate and environment through our Tackle the Crisis campaign on our website and LinkedIn.
We will encourage our team to see more rewilding in action, including more education about biodiversity and a team visit to a rewilding project.
We will continue to develop the employee survey to track sentiment and areas for improvement through the platform Leapsome that allows us to monitor our progress year on year.
We will address the concerns of employees raised in the employee survey and introduce a new feedback function in Leapsome.
We will provide mental health training for senior staff and stress management support.
We will improve the project management process with the help of a new tool that links human resources planning and financial information. We will also change the team structure to ensure better workflows and mutual support.
We will continue to develop the application of commercial and self-developed tools to improve work processes and the quality of our products.
