New partnership to support long-term scaling up of European rewilding

EnviroSustain is excited to announce a new ten-year partnership with Rewilding Europe. Rewilding Europe is an independent, non-for-profit foundation that supports rewilding landscapes across Europe, showcasing rewilding in action, building momentum and helping to reconnect people with wild nature with great success.

Since the 20th business anniversary in 2021, one of the goals of ES has been to have more of a positive impact through its own operations and the work done with clients. As part of a positive impact campaign in 2022, ES made donations supporting the European Young Rewilders and the comeback of wild horses. This led to further discussions about the importance of biodiversity and rewilding landscapes and the most beneficial ways to provide more long-term impactful support.

Speaking of the idea behind the partnership, Ingemar Hunold, Partner at EnviroSustain said

As a business, we’re very aware that we work in a sector which can contribute massively to habitat loss, resource scarcity, and emissions. We want to show things can be done differently and hope that our partnership with Rewilding Europe will serve as an example to our clients, the wider industry, and fellow business owners, demonstrating the importance of not just balancing our impact on the planet, but making a positive contribution towards nature recovery.

As part of the new agreement, ES will provide a percentage of its annual turnover over the next decade, with the money initially used to support Rewilding Europe’s recently launched European Wildlife Comeback Fund, which is working to scale up keystone species reintroduction and population reinforcement across Europe.

ES will also provide pro bono advice on rewilding-related buildings – such as new offices and rewilding centers – to Rewilding Europe and Rewilding Europe network organisations. “We look forward to bringing our experience and knowledge of sustainable building to the projects of our partner Rewilding Europe to create healthy and sustainable spaces for the people who work and visit there,” Ingemar Hunold emphasized.

Dr. Birgit Memminger-Rieve, MD at EnviroSustain is clear on the importance of biodiversity, and this is one of the reasons ES has chosen to partner with Rewilding Europe.

We cannot possibly ignore the importance of biodiversity to the future of the planet. Rewilding landscapes and encouraging species reintroduction is a huge step towards more balanced ecosystems which support all life on Earth. We’re thrilled at this opportunity to share our expertise with the Rewilding Europe network and eagerly anticipate the species reintroductions that our donations will enable.

We look forward to sharing the progress of Rewilding Europe and the partnership over the coming years and have lots in store. If you’d like to learn more about rewilding in action, visit the Rewilding Europe website: https://rewildingeurope.com
